Three Months

Three Months

SYDNEY ELIZABETH
7 lbs 5 oz
In between preemie and newborn clothes
She is becoming smiley and is a very happy, social baby!
Sydney is still a voracious eater-- nothing gets between her and the nipple! (Either bottle or breast)
She is eating between 2.5-3 oz per feeding
She loves to stand and has amazing head control!
Her eyes are staying pretty dark
Sydney's first legit smile was on Dec 27 after getting her diaper changed.  She had been smiley the few days before that, but that was the first time she smiled in response to me talking and smiling at her.
Her left eye still has a clogged tear duct, so many times when she wakes up her eye is gooped shut.  It's so sad!

BRAYDEN CHRISTOPHER
6 lbs 1 oz (how much I weighed when I was born)
His eyes are lighting up and looking like they might be blue
Is a chill and very calm baby.  When I put him in the boppy under a play mat he loves to stare at it.
He also looks at any window or light we put him by.  He seems to enjoy the swing and watches the mobile on top.
Brayden loves music-- he responds and seems to get excited when we sing to him or play music nearby.
He is still in preemie everything, but he is starting to get a little tall for some things.
He moved up to pampers swaddlers newborn diapers because we ran out of preemie ones
The rate of his hair growth seems to have slowed, we were worried we were going to have to give him his first haircut already.
He loves his monkey wubanub.

Both babies are becoming better sleepers and sleeping 4-6 hour stretches at a time.
They usually wake up around 2-3am and 5-7am, depending on what time they go down for the night.
We are working on establishing a bedtime routine to get into more of a set schedule the night.

Here are some pictures from the past month:

This is how we've kept track if they've been eating enough- weighing them on the kitchen scale

Just for my memory- here is an excerpt from my journal

It's been a crazy night!  Here's a day in the life of 3 month old twins:
Chris and I tried to coordinate everything so we could go to bed early.  LOL!
I got in bed at ten and started pumping and Chris finished giving Brayden a bottle so he'd fall asleep for a few hours.  He fed and burped him like normal.  Around 10:30 Brayden woke up crying.  We tried burping him again and giving him gas drops.  His fussing escalated and it woke up Sydney.  I took Brayden and changed his diaper and tried to calm him down while Chris gave Sydney a bottle.
Poor little Brayden was not happy; he had lots of gas pains.  I looked up YouTube videos on baby tummy massage and tried that for a few minutes which seemed to help some; but Brayden was still shrieking in pain.
I then found the idea to put a warm compress on the belly so I made a sock heating thing with rice in it.  Meanwhile, Sydney was ready to play and be active after her bottle.  Chris was exhausted, and barely able to stay awake with her.  He tried playing with her then bouncing her to get her to fall back asleep.
Around 11:30 the warm compress helped Brayden relax and calm him down enough that he took his binky and after a few minutes fell asleep.  I then took Sydney from Chris, and she became really fussy.  She started rooting, so I decided to breastfeed her to help her relax and fall asleep.  Chris fell asleep around 11:30.  I must have fallen asleep a little after that because i woke up at 1am with Sydney asleep on my chest.  I put her in the bassinet.
At 2:30 Sydney woke up again-- really hungry this time.  I changed her diaper and fed her a bottle with almost 3 ounces in it.  She went back down again a little after 3am.
Brayden woke up at 4:30 ready to eat.  I breastfed him for about 15 min, but then he started spitting up.  I burped him/held/caught spit up until about 5 when he fell asleep in my arms.  Then i transferred him back to the bassinet.
At 6:45 Sydney woke up again to eat.  I breastfed her.  Chris' alarm had been going off during this time for him to go to the gym.  But he slept through it all, so I got up and turned it off.
I put Sydney back down just as Brayden woke up spitting up.  I changed his clothes and diaper because he was all wet from spit up.  I breastfed him until 7:30.
Chris woke up and took a shower. When he got out of the shower I had him make me a smoothie.  After I drank the smoothie I slept until ten and then got up and both Sydney and Brayden and finished a little after 11 and got ready for the day.
