Our First Weekend Home

This weekend Chris and I didn't have to travel anywhere. We had the weekend off of meets; until Chris decided to go to a meet at Weber State on Saturday.

Saturday morning we woke up and left early to get to the track meet early. Unfortunately, we got lost on the way. Chris had printed off directions from the Weber State website; but the directions were to the Weber State Davis campus in Layton. So after driving around for a while, and stopping to ask for directions we found the right place. But we did get to see the Ogden Mason Temple on our excursion in the wrong direction.

Chris jumped really well. He had some great attempts at 5.37 meters, which is the height he needed to clear to go to Nationals. He did not clear it, but was very close. He was able to adjust and get some things figured out, so this next weekend at Conference he will be able to clear the height.
After the meet we went out to lunch (thanks to some saved up per diem from previous track meets) at the Red Iguana in Salt Lake. We've wanted to go for a while, but we weren't too impressed with it.

Then we went to the Salt Lake Temple. It was the first time we've done a live session. The Salt Lake Temple is a beautiful, fun, old Temple. Now we are one Temple closer to reaching our goal of attending every Temple in Utah.

After the Temple we stopped by Ikea to make some returns and pick up a few, fun things. Chris is very excited about the new mini spatula we got.

As we left Ikea, we received some great news... Nate was accepted into the BYU Counseling Psychology Ph.D. program!! We are so excited for him and Laurie.
So we finished our long day off with BYU Creamery Ice Cream at my parent's house to celebrate with Nate and Laurie.

I am spoiled..

And Valentine's Day was no exception!!

Chris got home from the Air Force meet Saturday night while I didn't get home until Sunday afternoon.

Chris pampered me all day once I got home. When he picked me up he handed me a small flower, and he sure smelled and looked good. He was dressed for church and had put on cologne.

When I walked into our apartment, it was spotless and smelled clean. Chris had set the table for a candlelit dinner, and there was pot of flowers with a card waiting for me on the counter.
He had cleaned the entire apartment, vacummed, washed the mirror, sink, and put the clothes away, and ran the dishwasher.

For dinner Chris lit candles and made steak with rice and corn
, and he brought out some Sparkling Cider. Then we watched the Olympics, and Home Makeover. Then we finished off the night watching Kung Fu Panda, and Chris pulled out Rocky Road ice cream. He sure knows what I like and how to make me happy.

Then for my Valentine's gift, Chris surprised me. When he went to New York last week, I asked him to look for a purse for me. He told me he wasn't able to find any. Then on Valentine's Chris told me there was a present hidd
en for me in the apartment. I had to search all around to find it.
Hidden inside a red backpack, was the most beautiful black purse. Chris bought me a genuine leather Coach purse. I love it!

I am so lucky to have such a tender, understanding husband who loves me and knows me so well!!

Chris' taste of the Big Apple

Two weeks ago Chris had a fun opportunity to spend five days in New York City.

He went to the Manhattan Temple, saw Stomp, shopped (which was a stressful experience for him), ate good food, rode the Subway, went to the Metropolitan museum, ate cheesecake, and won the track meet. A busy week for him!

Air Force Meet

Last weekend Chris and I spent in Colorado Springs. We left Thursday afternoon. The men's team left three hours before the women's team, but their flight was delayed for several hours, so the women's team beat them by about 4 hours to our hotel.

Chris jumped 5.30 again this week. I matched my P.R. in the 60m.

Off to Air Force

This weekend Chris and I get to compete in a meet at the Air Force Academy. This is one of my favorite places to go. I love going on base and I think the Air Force campus is beautiful.

So I stumbled across these pictures of President Bush at the Air Force graduation a few years ago. They are hilarious. So, in honor of us going to Air Force; here they are:

Distance does make the heart grow fonder...

Chris and I are spending another long weekend apart. It is crazy how much I miss him. Our apartment feels so cold and lonely.
But I'm glad he's having such a fun time in the Big Apple.
